About Dr. Ismail

The leading neurosurgeon Dr. Ismail specializes in investigations and minimally invasive treatment methods on the spine.  His diagnoses and treatments are supported by state-of-the-art equipment such as MRI, digital X-ray, 4D spine measurement, ultrasound and C-arm, as well as the interdisciplinary expertise of neurosurgery, orthopedics, trauma surgery and physical therapy at the Spine Centre Munich East (WZMO).

Dr. Ismail is an experienced surgeon, who from 2003 up to the present day has already performed over 12,000 operations. As a specialist at various spinal hospitals in Germany as well as Consultant in Charge and Deputy of the Senior Consultant in the neurosurgical department of Carl Thiem Hospital in Cottbus, he has specialized in minimally invasive surgical techniques for the spine since as early as 2004. He has an excellent command of a wide range of treatment methods for the spine which render open surgery unnecessary, such as

  • Mini-endoscopy
  • Nucleoplasty
  • Periradicular therapy (PRT)
  • Facet infiltration
  • Thermocoagulation
  • RF neurotomy on the sacroiliac joint

Dr. Ismail is certified as a "spinal neurosurgeon", a notable distinction, which to date has only been awarded to around 25 specialists in Germany in the field of spinal surgery.

Dr. Ismail also has outstanding expertise in the field of intervertebral disc prosthetics, stabilization and correction of the spine. Under Dr. Ismail, stabilization surgery is a much less daunting prospect, because he performs this surgery using minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Ismail works with the non-fusion spine technique, which allows for the preservation of some movement with stabilization surgery.

For a detailed diagnosis and treatment of your back complaint, Dr. Ismail has been available since 2012 in the Spine Centre Munich East (WZMO), which he himself founded.
