There is a strong focus on sports medicine at OZMO (the Orthopedic Center Munich East), so it is no coincidence that members of the German national ice hockey team come here for treatment. With Dr. Balensiefen being the official physician for the German Ice Hockey Federation, world-class hockey players Nina Kamenik, Jacqueline Janzen and Franziska Busch put their faith in the skills of this orthopedic joint specialist and his OZMO colleagued Dr. Diehl to carry out their knee and shoulder operations.
Following their successful surgery, the players are now fit again and ready for the upcoming Winter Olympics. We wish them great success!
Dr Balensiefen has been responsible for providing medical care for Germany's national ice hockey teams since January 1997. His involvement in sports medicine has included serving as Medical Officer on the organizing committee for the Ice Hockey World Championships in Germany in May 2001. In March 2006, he was an official physician for the German Olympic team in Turin. As well as being a qualified specialist in sports medicine, Dr. Balensiefen has an international diploma in medicine for mountaineering and expeditions.
